Chapter 6: The Escape
As night fell I got ready to leave when something caught my eye.
“What's that,” I whispered.
There was a gem sitting around a guard's neck. I grabbed it, put it on my neck, and ran out the door. Then the guards woke up.
“Get her,” he yelled
I ran and ran when finally I reached the gate, but it was locked. Ugh. I wish I had a ladder. Then the crystal on my neck started to glow, and a ladder made of ice appeared. As soon as I climbed the ladder it disappeared. I hopped off the wall and ran up the mountain a bit and hid in a bush. What was that!? I wonder, can I do it again? I wish I had a ladder. Then a 7-foot ladder appeared out of nowhere. Then the goblins came at me running at full speed.
“Stop! Don’t hurt me,” I said, sticking my hand out.
A blast of ice shot out of my crystal and froze the goblins.
“Ahhhhh,” they yelled.
I walked up to them, but they were frozen and motionless. I didn’t want to be around them, so I left them stuck in a block of ice.
Chapter 7: The Trap
I ran as fast as I could up the mountain when I fell into a pit. GREAT! Just GREAT!!!!! First fairies, then goblins, and now this!? THIS IS ALL JUST GREAT! At least I have my ice crystal. I wish I had a ladder. Nothing happened. I tried again. I wish I had a ladder. Still nothing. I looked at my crystal and it was gray and not its usual white. Maybe it’s powered by something outside, like the sun. I have an idea to get out. I will climb the wall with my scissors and hiking boots. I grabbed my scissors and used them to climb out of the pit. As I was putting them back, I noticed something. My crystal was glowing again. I took my backpack and blocked the sun. It stopped glowing. I put it back in the sun, and it glowed again. Then I heard someone yelling. The goblins are back! The goblins are back! What should I do? That’s it! I will make a diversion! I made an ice shard and threw it to the left of where I was.
“Over there! I heard something,” one of the goblins yelled.
Once they had all left, I looked for somewhere safe to rest and finally, I settled in a bush and went to sleep.
Chapter 8: The Flame
I woke up hotter than ever. Why is it so hot? As soon as I got out of the bush, I knew why. That tree caught on fire! I ran as fast as I could to a lake and stood by the edge. A bunch of animals were running in every direction.
“Run there,” I called, pointing to a cave.
All the animals seemed to hear me and ran off. I used my Ice crystal to freeze the fire. But the fire was so hot that I had to do it so many times.
“Finally,” I said
Out of nowhere the water started to form into a water tornado.
“Oh no,” I yelled
Water was splashing everywhere. Freezing it, I ran into the clearing.
“ROAR,” Something roared in the distance.
The dragon. It must have been making all these flames! I hope Lilly will be somewhere close by.
“ROAR,” it called again
I ran in the direction of the roar. And further up the mountain.
Chapter 9: The Falls
Hours later, I came across a beautiful waterfall. This looks like a nice place to rest my legs. When I walked behind I saw a beautiful cavern filled with gems and a huge lake in the middle. Mermaids! Maybe they can help me!
“Excuse me, but I am a traveler, and I was wondering if you could help me,” I asked
“Sure,” They replied
As soon as they said that, the waterfall froze over.
“Right after you work for us for a while,” They called
The next day I was put to work cleaning and dusting the whole cavern, asking every mermaid I saw to help.
“Can you help me get out,” I asked one.
“No, why should I,” she replied, then she swam away.
Eventually, I came across the last mermaid in the cave.
“Will you help me,” I asked.
“No,” she replied, then whispered, “Meet me at dark.”
Yes! At least someone said yes. I have to get out and save Lilly.
After all the mermaids were asleep, I waited for the mermaid. After a while, she came over.
“Follow me,” she whispered and disappeared down a tunnel.
Chapter 10: The Deep
As I followed her into the tunnel it started to get colder and colder as water was seeping through my clothes.
“Swim down there, and you will find a cavern. In the cavern, there will be a tunnel to the outside,” she told me.
“Thanks so much,” I told her.
I swam deeper and deeper until I finally reached the cavern. This must be the cavern that the mermaid told me about.
“Woah,” I whispered.
The cavern was big and had crystals on the wall. There is a staircase to the outside! I ran up the stairs as fast as I could. When I was halfway up, CLICK! What was that? Suddenly the tunnel started to fill up with water.
“Oh no,” I yelled.
I ran up the stairs as fast as I could and even faster when I fell into the water. I’ve got to get out! I swam higher and higher until I broke the surface.
“Ugh,” I said, panting.
I let the water push me up to the surface.
“The sun,” I said, squinting my eyes.
I was so used to the cavern light it took me almost an hour for my eyes to adjust. I am so glad I made it out alive! Now I have to go and find Lilly.
