A Night Divided by Jennifer A. Nielsen

Recently I read Night Divided .  This book is currently my favorite book, and I give it 5/5 stars. It's about a girl in East Germany during the time while the Berlin Wall stood. A few days before the wall was put up, her father and brother go to West Germany to try and find work. But the day they return, there is a surprise to greet them.  All Gerta wants is for her family to be reunited. Will she find a way to see them again? reviewed by Rachel

Greenglass House by Kate Milford

Recently, I read the book Greenglass House . If I had to place it on a rating system, I would give it 5/5 stars!  Greenglass House is a wonderful mystery, taking place in a smuggler’s inn during Christmas Break. It follows Milo and his friend Meddy, the cook’s daughter, through a few days at the inn when guests just keep on arriving, a huge surprise to Milo who didn’t think anyone would come in this weather. Together, they discover a huge secret about the house, and uncover what is happening with all the guests in the house. You can read Greenglass House online at Libby or Sora, or you can get it in person from a library! reviewed by Jemma

Meet Jemma

I  love being on the Student Leadership Team of Durham Book Club because it gives me a chance to express my love for reading and to spread my excitement about books with other people! I really like meeting new people and talking to them about our favorite things. I think it’s really cool that we get to pick all the books for the club, and it blows my mind to see all the people that have signed up to read the books that we picked! The actual book club is just as much fun as the leadership team, even though I already know what’s going to happen. I’m excited for another year of DBC, with some in-person meetings this time! Jemma was a member of Durham Book Club's FIRST Student Leadership Team in 2022 and has been a part of every aspect of DBC's development, from title selection to event planning, from marketing to executing each meeting. In 2022, Jemma had the opportunity to interview Kwame Alexander, author of Booked .
