Meet Maeda

I love being part of the community that is Durham Book Club. One of my favorite things in the world is reading so I was naturally very excited to learn we had a book club here in Durham. Being able to connect with people over books we all enjoyed is a wonderful thing. One of my favorite parts of DBC is fun activities that are cleverly tied into the books we have been reading. I also love being able to talk with the authors and ask the questions I’d been dying to know after completing their book.

Maeda was a member of Durham Book Club's FIRST Student Leadership Team in 2022 and has been a part of every aspect of DBC's development, from title selection to event planning, from marketing to executing each meeting. In 2022, Maeda had the opportunity to interview Julissa Arce, author of Someone Like Me.

Enjoy!  A Very Squirrely Birthday By Caroline M Chapter 1 : A Birthday Morning Hi, my name is Caroline and today is my eleventh birthday.    I woke up to see 3 presents on the floor. Excited, I quickly scrambled out of bed to open the presents on the floor. The smallest present was a purse with a leather strap. In the next box was some squirrel feed. I quickly ripped open the biggest present, and inside it was a squirrel hoodie that seemed to have a soft glow to it.
